Internet Speeds

Hi guys,

I'd be interested to know what kinds of internet speeds everyone is getting.

I'm with Iprimus. When I measured this morning using the Speedtest app on my iphone, it was

Download: 1.22Mbps
Upload: 0.21Mbps
Pin: 47 Ms

So pretty bad. In fact, my 3G is almost 4 times the speed.

Anyone else out there the same?

I am on the TPG unlimited plan, and the speed isn't too bad.
Are you getting 1.22 mega bits or mega bytes per second? (download)

Looks like we need to give Iprimus the boot! Have been enquiring with Optus, but doesn't look like they can accomodate us.

hi saijo, try testing your speed here- http://www.speedtest.net/
It will give you a grade A to F.
Your speed is marginally faster than mine, probably giving you a "C" grade. (post the link it gives you after the speedtest to see your score.)
166 wellington is over 1km from the Collingwood telephone exchange, hence the average speeds here.

Hi Saijo,
Sorry to tell you your download speeds are very poor.

Your download speed = 1.787 Mbps = 220 KBytes/sec (0.2 MB/sec) = 4 times the old 'dial up' speed of 56 kB/sec

ADSL2+ users should be getting around 1 to 1.5 MB/sec here at 166 Wellington, 5 to 7 times faster than your speed.

Try testing your speed here> http://www.speedtest.net/ and it gives you at A to F.

Download: 12.28
Mbps Upload: .70Mbps

My upload is usually slightly better than that.

Anyone have unlimited data on optus, I've been wondering if the speeds are any less.

Just upgraded to unlimited and this is the result

It's basically the same. for $100 a month it's expensive but not bad.
